Stephen Hawking's book

The book I'm reading is Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time (Illustrated) which I truly recommend for astronomy newbies like myself. I'll probably be spending a good bit of time with this book while pondering on my theory...

Intention of this blog

I'd say that Albert Einstein was a clever man in his area of expertise - relatively speaking, of course. As I obviously don't know squat about the universe.
Most of my 'knowledge' of the universe has come from different kinds of popular science magazines and TV-shows, so I believe my view to be very simplified compared to what the scientists of today know about the world we live in.

I think I have the basics down on the consequences of the Theory of Relativity, such as Time Dilation (twin paradox) and the Universe being warped. However, the more I have thought about it, the more I think that there just HAS to be something fishy about this.
So, I have come up with some fragments of a theory that (so far) seems to align with the Theory of Relativity WITHOUT having the bizarre consequences but actually making sense.
Now, this is obviously pure bull-crap because
  1. I'm not a scientist
  2. I don't know what I'm talking about
But! That's the point!
The point is to show it for myself and for anti-science people (who dismiss arbitrary scientific theories and substitute them with insanity) that science will catch up with you eventually.

Instead of diving right into my theory, I think it'd be fun to first go through the Theory of Relativity in a few steps here, partly so that someone might learn something, but mostly so that people know on which level I'm handling this matter and also for correcting me if I've got it all wrong in the first place. Hey, I might even realize on a very early stage that my theory doesn't hold any water.

I will say this much about my theory though:
As my theory's main focus is Retardation (rather than Relativity), it's suitable to call it The Theory Of Retardation.
So, if it turns out that the theory is just dumb (which it will), the name of the theory will still be as suitable. Genius!

That's all for now.. Let's dive into relativity next!
